My pineapple green Cheek conure has suddenly started closing her right eye and when I held a light it seems like her eye is red and possibly has bleeding on the inside of her eye( but I am not 100% sure) she is constantly scratching the eye and seems sleepier and calmer than usual around this time. I also tried testing to see if she can see out of that eye, but it seems like she can’t. I decided to drop one drop of 0.9% normal saline to see if maybe it is an irritant in her eye that is bothering her. Please help, I’m not sure what to do, I don’t have insurance for her and am not near any local veterinary offices that are open at this time. Should I wait it out and see how she is tomorrow morning?

I can't see a lot on the pictures, except that she has her eye closed of course. But I will definitely call a vet in the morning. Reading your description, her eye is definitely bothering her and needs to be treated. Especially the not seeing out of it and possiblity of blood in her eye doesn't sound really good. I would definitely call the vet as soon as you can and bring her in.
I wish you good luck and please keep us updated!

I second the calling the first available vet you can. Especially when it comes to the eyes if it gets infected she could possibly lose her vision or potentially the whole eye if it's something really serious. The fact she keeps scratching at it something must really be irritating her.
I hope your able to get her into a vet and that she will be ok.

Hello Tvdv96 and April, thank you for your suggestions. I decided to wait till the morning to see if she gets better, and turns out she did! It was as if nothing had even happened. Her eye was no longer red, itchy, and she could see just fine. I guess she was being a teeny bit of a drama queen . I also kept monitoring her throughout the day and rechecked her eye and she was perfectly okay :)
this did lead me to get her insured for emergency vet visits !!
Thank you all so much!

I'm so glad that her eye was better! That's fantastic news and especially that you got pet insurance
