You have done really amazing with her! She looks so much healthier now!

Unfortunately, nothing is guaranteed. You just take it one day at a time.

I've had my first cockatiel since she was 5 months old. She's 20 years old now and I was told earlier this year she wasn't going to make it. She had somehow gotten herself stuck upside down in the cage she was in, wings stuck between the bars. Sadly, I don't know how long she was like that for, but I rushed her to the vet as soon as I could find one that would take her. (my normal vet doesn't do emergency visits anymore... and there's no emergency avian vets in the area...) She made it though!

Your baby is a fighter, too! Here's hoping that he or she has many years left to live! :)

I´m very sorry the v et has said this.

But from the very first picture you posted, your baby bird looked stunted. Most die as chicks, but you have done wonderfully and she´s grown and weaned. There´s definitely some success to that, as Finchly said.

Maybe you will have only mere months more together, maybe a year, maybe many many years. It´s just like any other living being, we just don´t know how much time we have.
A month ago my healthy dog stopped accepting his treats, being out of the usual I took him to the vets, but he died just days later. Something internal, maybe a heart problem or tumour. He never had any symptoms before that. He was perfectly fine.

All I can say is, enjoy the time you have together. Take a couple of pictures to capture some of those happy days. Don´t take any days for granted.

I am sorry for your loss Zara :( and I’m glade your cockatiel is still with you and I hope will be for many more years Monica. But yes I’m so proud of her and I know she wanted to live and she fight thought it and we were able to help her with meds and great food .I love pikachu and I will do everything so she can be with me longer .I feel better now I got more hope with everyone’s posts it really helped and changed my point of view thank you so much I appreciate everyone’s effort and Spent for Pikachu:heart:
She isn’t that weak thought cuz I can see and compare her to her first days obviously she won’t be as normal as a 100% healthy one but she still can eat play and still be a beautiful cockatiel .She is learning how to climb from the cage bars and begs to come out

You know... I had a little lovebird chick. She was abandoned by her parents at 5 days old. She was super small, much smaller than her clutchmates, and she grew at such a slow rate, super slowly, her feather development was weeks and months behind everyone else. I hand fed her from 5 days old, and it took me just under 6 months to wean her (average wean age is 1.5-2 months).
But she is coming up on her 3rd hatchday now (in Dec). I won´t lie, we had some issues, mainly her clutches (of eggs) are small (only 2), and she had a calcium deficiency so bad she lost her flight (edit to add; she did regain her flight with the help of a vitamin and calcium supplement). But with the vet we worked through it and she´s still here, living life and loving every minute of it :)

Be realistic, you know there´s problems, but think positive! :hug9:

Yes I will think positive she also lost her tail feathers .The vet injected vitamins ,Iron and another substance that I don’t remember. But I am still grateful that she made it this far and she wants to live and is fighting all the way trough.Just a question ,can I put my budgies and pikachu in the same room ? I need my room for studying at night now so I can’t keep them here anymore

Yes, as long as everyone is healthy, they can live in the same room!
