I believe it, Oggie wants to be cuddled so bad. He is obsessed with trying to get me to pick him up
When he sees me near the cage he rushes over, lifting his little foot and going "Og-gee?"
When his cage is open, if he can see me he will try to figure out a way to climb to the floor like he's going to come find me.
He would be everything I ever wanted in a bird.. if I can ever figure out why his loving includes so much tearing of my flesh.
There's a Galah at a rescue I volunteer at that's like this, like she'll call for me when she sees me and follow me around from the floor of the aviary. Here are a few things I've noticed that can set her off, in case any of these can be applicable:
- If I seem to be leaving her, putting her down, etc.
- If someone comes near us who she thinks might try to take her from me
- If someone comes near us who she doesn't like
- If another bird comes near me, especially if they try to come near her on me
- If I pay attention to another person when she thinks I should be paying attention to her
- If it has been a while since I've seen her and she needs me to know she is mad about it
- If she's REALLY excited and just decides that's how she has to express it
I can be a little bit of a glutton for punishment, and I love her to bits, so I've kind of just accepted that handling her is rolling the dice. I try to avoid any of the above situations, and after a good number of facial wounds, I've done my best to keep her off my shoulders (she loves to hang out on my shoulder, though, and is stubborn). Anyway, I hope this helps!
