Hi I am hand rearing a baby rainbow lorikeet called Laura who fell out of her nest. (DNA testing proves she's female) We found her when she was 3-4 weeks old now she's 7-8 weeks old. she's recently started flying for the first time!

Shes wild and we are planning to release her into the wild but y'know, it can be hard to release a hand reared bird back into the wild.

Without proper rehabilitation, I would not recommend releasing her as you have raised her from such a young age. Is there a rehab centre near you who could help you? If not, maybe start thinking of her more as a companion bird

There is a rehabilatation centere 27 miniutes away from where i live and when shhe gets a bit older im considering to hand her over to them buut ive gotten so attached to her i don't really want to, but its about whats best for her, not what i want.

She is probably imprinting and you and might not be a good candidate for release.

She is the cutest. I agree you may be better off keeping her as she is so young. It will be hard to get her to a state that she can be released

Looks like you got yourself a buddy! Lol. I think you’ll find the advice you’ll be given is going to be not to release her after raising her.
