We just finished hand feeding our around 5 week old budgie. While we were feeding him, he leaped towards the spoon and ate some of the formula when it was too hot. We took it away immediately. It was only a little and at 113° Fahrenheit. Is this enough to cause crop burn? Is there anything we can do in this situation to help it?

I don't have any advice except to be patient. Sometimes members in other parts of the world aren't online right now and you will need to wait. I hope that Zara and Ripshod can give you some info.

If there was already something in the crop and was followed by more food it would have cooled rather quickly. Just keep an eye on things and if he seems to be struggling to swallow get him to a vet.

Watch out for any abnormalities, marks on tongue, marks on skin on the crop area, food not digesting at usual pace, lack of appetite (not willingly accepting formula). Anything out of the ordinary, head on down to the vet.

If the crop is red and irritated then it would be crop burn if it looks normal then shouldn't have a problem
