I've had 2 budgies for about two weeks, and they seem not to trust me at all. They keep turning their backs on me and when I get too close, they sometimes try to fly into the cage.
Is this normal or should I do something about it?

How do I make 2 budgies trust you?

Thanks.

Two weeks isn’t very long. What all do you do with them? Did they come from a breeder or pet store?

Have you tried reading aloud to them, not looking directly at them or holding millet inside the cage at first?

Put some millet in your hand and slowly take it close to them. They will eventually jump onto your hand while eating. After some time, they will climb all over u. At this point, u are the chosen one. U can celebrate lol.

Yes it is normal for them to not trust you and want nothing to do with you.
You don't make them trust you- you attempt to earn their trust.

2 weeks is a very short time and nothing with birds happens fast when it comes to making friends or earning trust.

You will get there if you go slow and stay consistent

Ok so what do you suggest when it comes to attempting to earn their trust? Should I do something daily or just let them be?

Definitely daily. It’s going to take A LOT of work, and a lot of patience.

Sit next to the cage and talk to them. Read a book out loud, talk about your day, etc. Offer millet in the cage by hand - hold the millet, put your hand in the cage, and sit still. Let them come to you. Work on target training (loads of videos on YouTube for that).

Overall, it’s going to take a while, but you can totally get there.

Ok thank you very much! I will take that advice and start doing them daily.
