Hi everyone,
New to Avian Ave. I am an avid bird lover, I have 4 feather babies I love so much and about to get a fifth. I just started my feathered family a year ago, and the addiction took off. (pun intended) I have had numerous other "pets" but birds are by far my favorite. Every day I'm amazed at how different my feather babies are and their personalities. In order of adoption / rescue: Sprite is a 1 year old Parakeet, named by her beautiful green color and tiny little body, but don't let that fool you she is the princess of the house. Cricket he is my handsome little Green Cheek. He is definitely MY baby. Cuddles me when I'm sick and has to be by momma almost always. And for those that think they can't or don't speak, Cricket is a chatter box. Ziggy, she is my husband's bird. She was a rescue and is 15 and the only other person that had her was a male, so she isn't too keen on female humans. But she tolerates me and I love her. Lastly, we have June, she is my rescue Goffin. I rescued her after I found out that her humans were elderly and sick and had to surrender her and it broke my heart. She has some behavioral problems such as screaming and plucking, but she is a very sweet loving cuddly baby. (By baby I mean teen, she's 12). Soon I am adopting a Severe. He was just hatched and there are three of them. I am waiting for the sexing (dna) to be done, so I can pick the male of the bunch. If there is one, if not we will get our next sweet girl. But since Cricket is the only male of of our feathered babies, I'm really hoping for a male.
Poor Cricket. I will post pics as I can and I am super excited to keep everyone informed of our silly bird antics and get any questions answered I may have.
