Budgie That Gurgles

Hello! So, I have two little adorable birds, and they are specifically budgies. One of my budgies, we’ll call her S, has been having this issue with her throat (?)

I am unsure, but it sounds like she’s trying to keep a lot of mucus down. When I got my other budgie, we’ll call him N, he always hung out with S, and he still does. He seemed to have caught the same issue that has been going on with S, but after a while later, it went away, and he resorted back to being playful (he always was playful).

However, the same is not with S. She’s constantly gurgling and moving her head up and down, with these weird noises that accompany her actions as well. This has been going for quite a while, and I am currently trying to look for a proper vet in my area.

I am here to ask if any of you know what is going on, as I want to make myself aware of what my little bird is going through. Please, if any of you know what is up or have a slight clue, let me know! Many thanks!

Also to provide more details, she sometimes sneezes, but this is rarely. The sneezes are very quick and sudden as well. She is not losing any feathers, and seems quite active (she likes playing with N!). She eats when hungry and enjoys treats. However, her poop looks abnormal, in terms of having a red-ish tinge to it. A photo is attached to show as a visual. Once again, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Gurgling would make me terribly nervous - I’d personally head to an avian vet, for my own piece of mind if nothing else. Especially if she’s sounding mucus-y, since a respiratory infection can get really bad really quickly.

I have budgies, but I'm probably not the most knowledgeable person in terms of breathing issues. However, if any of my birds appears to have any issues breathing, we are hot on our way to the vet.

How old is S? What sort of diet does she eat? You said her droppings had changed, is that just in color or consistency? How do the urates look?

Hi sorry for the late reply! Been very busy!

To answer the questions, S is a bit more than 2 years old, and N is around 8 months. S, along with N, mainly eat seeds from the company “Great Choice.” Often I do feed her and N stuff like eggs, oranges, grapes, and all of that in certain amounts. For the droppings, only the color of S’s droppings has changed, and the consistency is normal like a regular bird’s droppings. The urates are normal as well, like the regular white color. The droppings are quite small though, but that usually varies.

Also want to add that when I first got S 2 years ago, she was very active! She flew around a lot and was a mischievous little girl. Very worried about how much she changed because despite her still being active, she is less active now than she was before.

Please let me know if you know anything!! :(

This varies greatly by country/region. Sorry to hear about this.
