The little one is growing. It enjoyed neck rubs today. it is now 12 days old, and 37 grams. Now that it is feathered the weight gain will start to slow down. It is alittle more active in the nest. So it may soon want to explore the cage. I hope our weather warms up some by the time that occurs.

I have been so concerned with the BN that I haven't checked the WB. I looked a couple days ago, and they are growing fast. The low humidity did in the last eggs. I have another pair that have also gone to nest.
Tommorow I will check the WB. There nest is hard to get to to look in. Geez...I just looked at the hatch date (new years, the oldest) and the oldest WB baby should be feathers...OK...I better watch the nest now...

Thanks Jen. I finially found another WB breeder that has WB unlrelated to mine!...Yay!, and she also has 3 handfed babies, which I am going to order one. They would also be unrelated to the one you are waiting on from Rick.

That's great! I'm just a little confused now, when I emailed Rick he didn't say he had any babies, he told me he had gotten some from you and gave me your email. So I thought I was waiting on a baby from you?? I would love to get an unrelated male and female.
OH...I had thpought you were waiting on a baby from him, and wanted one from me to to pair it with. Yikes!...sorry. yes I can come up with 2 unrelated. I have another pair on eggs.

The way the weather is, it is bad for shipping...plus it will be awhile before they are all big enough to feed and be weaned so, we can plan on early spring.

Yikes!...it went down to 34 degrees early AM...it is now in the 40's. The little bratty BN baby decided to fledge, and I found it on the botton of the cage with Daddy bird trying to cover it. it's little feet were cold. I put it back in the nest and all 6 adults piled on it. I have to keep checking to make sure it stays in the nest...
It got cool enough that the geckos that hang around on the back porch, and outside the tiel nestboxes (they are bug control) were found imobile and Hanging.
Another problem, there were 2 WB babies and now there is one. I found one fledged and had to put back in the nest. I suspect the other fledged too...but it is MISSING!!! I have searched all over the cage, and some parts of the porch. The WB babies are smaller than the BN, and if there is even a slightly wider spacing in the bars, I suspect they can wedge themselves thru it. Day WB has been calling and looking, but he is looking out into the yard and I don't hear any answer calls.

They will feed him as long as he begs for it. I am hoping to co-parent...meaning let the parents feed him, and I'll handle him to be hand tamed, and not afriad of humans. And I'll soon try to see if he'll nibble on bits of fruit when offerred. If the weather warms up (looks like it will) I will let the colony wean him out. This morning when I found him he was down close to a feed bowl.
Here is his daily pix He is starting to look like a big mouser...just got to get some more length to that tail. I was trying to see if I could finger feed him a bit of fruit and he let out a high pitch yell to Daddy bird.
