    Pictures Wall Play Gym?

Hello! This morning I was browsing a bird owner facebook group I'm in, and somebody had posted a photo of this wall perch/gym area they have for their cockatiels! I think it looks so awesome, and was wondering if anyone has ever made something similar to this. What type of materials should I use...

    Termites and perches

I'm looking at filling my aviary with tree branches for my macaw and caiques, but all I seem to find is termite eaten branches, the trees in our local area appear to be termite habitat. I know the termites won't hurt the birds but having them so close to the house is a concern. I also don't...

    Driftwood: safe or not??

Recently, I have been struggling to find good perches for my budgies since most of the ones I've found are mostly in the same shape. I want to get them better perches to better exercise their feet. I found some driftwood online in good shapes for my budgies, I can easily do some handwork and...

    PCV pipe size?

I just bought pvc pipe in 1 1/2 inch diameter for an African Grey. It’s only going to be used in a diy play gym. Is that too big or should I stop second guessing myself lol.

    Swing perches style and budgies

Hi all So, I’m a hobbiest and love craft (I’m sure I’m among friends here). Over about 10 months it has become clear to me that budgie Winston loves the toys I make him. However I’ve - a few times - splurged on the toys we’ve all seen, and have, including the photo attached. I know my Win, and...

    In need of playstand inspiration

Hey, after a year of working with dolly (an 8 year old CAG) she has finally accepted natural perches. In her old home she was only given metal perches and she was rarely handled causing her to start being terrified of humans. Well before she accepted perches she would only cling on to me or...

Is the remaining sawdust and dead insect in perches after baking harmful?

So, I just went out a pickup some mapple branches to make natural perches. I had to get the bark of since some mapple's bark is toxic to birds. By doing so, I saw some tunnels filled with sawdust. I saw on line that by washing, soaking and then baking the branches will kill anything alive and...

    Magidome

I think this might have some potential for people who want to create large play area for their birds -- for only $90 US (plus lumber). Their product is simply the connectors, and since everyone (?) has access to standard lumber, this approach really cuts down on expense from the shipping of...

    Pictures Diy window perch?

Hey, my Quaker loves looking out windows, so thought I'd get him a window perch. The only one online is the link. It looks like this It's for $80 with the tray and no cups, but I was wondering if it'd be cheaper to make it? That's furniture grade pvc pipe btw. If so, how would one go about...

I bought Azalea wood perches & i’m unsure if i should give them to my lovebird or not.. Please help!!

I bought Azalea wood perches online & at first i didn’t know that they were made out of azalea. I’ve searched online and it says that azalea wood is poisonous to birds, however, when i contacted the shop about this, they told me that it was safe and there’s no way that they would sell something...

Is driftwood safe to use for building a tree stand?

I would be getting the wood from a clean, freshwater river. I already talked with the local nature advisory and they gave me the green light to take a few pieces. I'm planning on cleaning it with some non-concentrated Dawn (what I use to clean his cage) and some F10 (veterinary antiviral and...

    Perches and Toys

Hello! I'm researching into budgies, and planning to buy a pair in a week or so, whenever I feel adequate and knowledgeable enough to be a good budgie parent. I have a few questions, and I thought I'd ask actual budgie owners for their opinions and their experiences. I'd extremely appreciate...

Can you use a grill to bake wood?

This sounds stupid, but I was wondering if it’s possible to use a grill to bake wood for disenfecting? I just finished using a bleach/water mix to disinfect some branches but I wanted to do some more and bake it. Do I have to bake it? And if so can I use a grill, or will that just grill the wood?

    Pedi-Perches

It´s no secret that I am a huge fan of pedi-perches - but only certain ones. I just want to post a thread with some info, so that I can reference it in the future instead of posting the same info multiple times and missing important parts. I stand by my pedi-perches, and only one of my birds...

    Choosing tree branches for perches

I'm planning on making some natural wood perches for my budgie, but I'm having a hard time finding bird-safe trees because I live in Singapore, and most information about safe trees are more about trees commonly found in the west. Would it be a good idea to get branches from trees where lots of...
