Good news - I was greeted by a little green guy with much brighter eyes and an APPETITE this morning!!! I could hardly believe it but he nibbled on some dry mix and was working on his 2nd sugar snap pea when I left for work! He even tried to bite me - got some spunk in him still. Trying not to have false hope but am just so happy that he is feeling better today! Andy will give him some more Meloxicam and try some chop when he gets home in a couple hours.

Came home to find Andy had set up a birdie buffet and Peanut was munching away! He tried to climb up the cage bars so we got the bottom grate zip tied up higher where he'd feel more normal. He went right back to eating so this mama is happier than can be. He gets tired quick but has stepped up for both of us and seems more like himself. Relief is an understatement... and praying he's feeling good and happy a little longer...

The fluid analysis came back on what they drew off of P's abdomen. "Modified transudate" - consistent with liver disease, cardiac disease and/or neoplasia. No infectious organisms so that is good. But otherwise did not give us any answers. Since his liver condition seems to be deteriorating, Dr. Chen wants to start him on colchicine, which is to prevent further fibrosis. had to look that one up. It is an anti-inflammatory used to treat pain from gout. She also wants to start famotidine for possible gastric ulcers because his poops are too dark for her liking. And Vit K for blood clotting, which we started over the weekend already.

SO - hoping we can discontinue the antibiotics. It's a lot of stress on mama worrying about getting all these down his hatch! Waiting on a copy of the xrays from Friday to compare. She said the mineralization was much worse. I'm anxious to see them.

Poor Peanut is really sick, but your vet is right on his case. Hope he can be comfortable for a long time to come.

He was pretty tired last night but ate up some dry mix. He picked his favorites out of breakfast and went back to sleep. He really only perks up for his Andy... but otherwise just isn't himself. Supposed to pick up $80 worth of meds today so hoping those will kick in and he'll feel better. Otherwise, I don't know whether we should keep this up.
