Thursday 4th Jan I noticed nube was blood stained at bedtime, took him straight to the hospital where our vet said either it is dermatitis or lapis has attacked him, he cannot confirm either but thinks dermatitis more likely.
This has happened before back in summer 2020 (yes it is the same bird, he's mottle). He is on the same meds as last time, but higher doses.
He was sprayed at the vet, and we picked up metacam to have 0.1ml at night, 0.05ml itraconazole every morning, and 0.05ml antibiotic every 8 hours.
He was doing well, the site was looking clean, no infection, all good this morning. mid-day fine.... came home 3 hours later to a blood bath. Raced him to the hospital and he's had a collar put on and I have a prescription for the spray (silver sulfadiazine) so I can spray the site twice a day.

This time is worse than before. From day one this time it was way worse, last time the stain on the feathers was barely noticable.

He has plucked handfuls of feathers from his neck tonight where the collar is. Hopefully they will grow back nicely in the future...

Poor Nube, hopefully he'll let things heal.
That must have been frightening coming home to a bloodbath.

Came home to find Nerd had blood all over his chest and back years ago. Thought maybe a mouse had attacked him or something, rushed him to the vet and he had pulled the bad flight feather that always grew in badly. Unfortunately it was a fresh blood feather and they cleaned him up and gave us some clotting powder. Looked just like your little guy only bigger. Found the still wet shaft in the bottom of his cage once we knew what happened.
I hope the little bugger gets better quickly and stops beating himself up :xflove:

Glad you were able to figure that out! Always is alarming when they bleed so much :(
