Just realised that, with Tiny 'Tiel's missing leg, the Hrafn Family Foot Curse lives on. :faint:
Oh good, I guess that must mean you're keeping him if he's family!

Tiny 'Tiel is still doing great! He refuses to wear any sort of bandage on his leg, and the vet doesn't want to put a collar on him since he's still pretty stressed and they don't want to scare him, so they've advised that I keep him in a fish tank for a while for a clean environment (also because apparently he still tries to climb, and he could mess up his stump before it heals).

He had a full panel of tests done, and the results should arrive today. I'm on tenterhooks!

Do you know if his stump was the result of a recent injury? Tiny Tiel is certainly a survivor and fighter - being able to be outside this long in this condition.

Looking forward to another pic of him - all cleaned up!

The vet thinks it happened within a day of me catching him. It was still fresh, but packed with mud and other gunk that had stopped the bleeding. It's all cleaned up now, but still raw.

She told me that the wound was very straight, like something had cut straight through his leg in one motion. There's no necrotic tissue that hints at it having been injured or tangled and then fallen off. It's being treated with the idea that it's an animal bite, so he's on lots of medication.

I forgot to mention, the vet also thinks he's pretty young. The month that he was out in my yard was probably a solid 1/5 of his life. :sad11:
What a trooper. He is tough as nails!

It's probably a good thing he's young. He's impressionable - I'm sure seeing the wild birds helped him learn where to find food and shelter. And being young, recovery will be quicker.

I'm so glad you saved him. Good job!

Glad to hear he's doing well.

So, as it turns out...Tiny 'Tiel is a little girl! :swoon:

Goes to show how good I am at sexing whitefaces. Apparently she's a whiteface pearl, possibly a whiteface cinnamon pearl (two techs are arguing about it ). I've heard of whitefaces and pearls, but not cinnamons, and never all at once! Whatever she is, she's gorgeous!
