Just by the way the cere looks I would say male!

Yes, generally speaking, I have noticed females bite MUCH worse than males! But I've also had some pretty bad bites from a male! So it's not completely reliable from that alone...

It’s definitely not a sure tactic, Kiwi drew blood once, and Blizzard has never done anything worse than a small pinch. Kiwi is male and Blizzard is female. If bites were the only way to tell, I would say that Kiwi was a female and Blizzard was a male!

Hi all - I am new here! Bird Mom to 2 parakeets, 4 lovebirds and a Blue Quaker!
My parakeets are young and I’m
Almost positive the green is a boy, but the white has me puzzled. Any guesses?

I'm not sure.

I can be certain of one thing though. The white one is either a boy or a girl

Welcome to the forum!

@Ripshod Might be able to help with genders. I don't like giving gender advice as more often that not I get it wrong...

The white one is looking female but this is far from ideal lighting.

By the way, the green is Sunny and the white is Daisy (we figured “she” wouldn’t mind the name even if it doesn’t “match” the gender!)

Perhaps a good question is.... is Daisy's behavior at all like Sunny's? Or is Daisy quieter and makes less chirps? Might not be old enough to be sure.

Genetically speaking, most Ino birds should be females, but for whatever reason, I see more males than females!

You're right. Didn't notice the dark eyes! So if the cere turns blue, male, white or white with tan/blue, to tan or brown, female.

Shape wise, I do want to say female.

I am getting this little one, can anyone tell me if it is a female or male. I think female but not sure. About 5 to 6 weeks old.
Do you have any better photos?

We can’t really see the cere from this angle.
