oh no! It's so sad that things have turned this way. With Tank in his current condition, I hope they can keep him comfortable until his passing, and I hope he knows how many people love him.

Poor Tank still honing for a miracle

Yep, still hoping for a miracle but his caretakers are being honest and realistic about his care and chance of recovery. Too bad he didn't get there soonerWhen I realized how sick Nerd bird truly was the last time the vet and I did everything we could but he was very weak and old. He had good days and bad days and he was with me when he left us so he knew he was safe and loved to the end.

Perhaps they should contact a university? Research labs? They have MRIs. However isoflorane is always needed for an animal to go under. A UTH(under tank heater) or heating pad will keep an animal warm during the imaging process.

But it really sounds like Tank has some sort of neurological disorder and I wonder if it's PDD.

The problem is you have to have COMPLETELY NON MAGNETICALLY ACTIVE items in an MRI. Even 1 tiny piece of magnetic active material can cause severe injury or death.

Heartbreaking but not unexpected. I appreciate his rescuers for being so transparent about his odds throughout his ordeal. I'm still crying though, I hope even in his sickness he felt how much his rescuers loved him in his final few days.


He was champion for fighting so long, his rescuers heroes. More and more it looked like they needed a miracle but he was given freedom from his pain and suffering instead.
Wings high little buddy. You deserved more out of life than you got.

I really think they made the right decision, he had struggle enough.
He will be one of the most loved internet birds and hopefully he can feel all the love we are giving him on his last journey.

I hope that Dr. Burge learned a lot of medical information about Tank and that it can be used to save others. We will keep trying to save your brothers and sisters one at a time.
