Hello I have had my bird since 2020 but until recently I've noticed that lemons feathers are looking like this
20240217_110853.jpg
I noticed like 2 weeks ago and started to take extra care of lemon (since I go to medical school, the term that I was on at the time didn't allow me to give them the time lemon deserved) and seemed to be getting better but now today one of the bigger feathers looked like this. Does anyone know what the problem is and how I can fix it. Another piece of info is that I also have another conure with lemon and they both get along well.

Haven't Seen lemon fly in awhile, the poo is normal, and the diet consists of A pellet called inune Harmony, but during December and half of January they mostly ate seeds due to my area getting really cold and I know seeds keep them warm. I also give them fruits like apples, carrots, banana, raspberries, oranges, and papaya. Yes they do share the same cage

Everytime I refill his water he takes a bath (then I replace the water again) and here is his face reveal :)

Look at that beautiful birdie!!!! :awww:

Time to get some veggies, leafy lettuces , sprouts and such in the diet . I'm sure you can find parrot safe veggie list easiy. Some I like to include nearly daily are bell peppers, yellow and orange are favorite here but all peppers are a good source of vitamin A . Red chili peppers are my flocks next favorite kind. Whatcha out for spicy kisses! I like to offer a leafy green every day too, mostly romaine because I also like romaine;) but they really love rainbow Swiss Chard , bok choy, occasionally cabbage, right now we are doing spring green mix . Then it's just whatever I have on hand , so zucchini, cauliflower, peas and green beans. I just got back into sprouts again yum! We also do a lot of sweet potato , red garnet sweet potato are mine and their new favorite. Some tomatoes here and there , I like the little multi color ones so that's what they get .
And because it's molts here, some scrambled egg, and walnuts, and I also do a tiny piece of well cooked chicken,( no skin ) and when I have a little salmon.

I hope you share a picture of your other baby!

Thank you very much I will definitely take notes to buy all you recommend, you have been of great help! Here is Dixie my other conure (she gets nippy around the cage so that's why I don't have her in my hands hahaha) 20240217_142040.jpg

Looks to me like quite a few flight feathers are missing. Hard to tell exactly with the way the wing is held in the photo. When was your bird last checked out by an avian vet? When did you last find lost/molted flight feathers?

There is no Avian Vets in my area so He has never gotten checked. Next time I see a feather I'll be sure to post it in the forum.

Both your babies are gorgeous. If he's missing an abnormal amount at once is it possible he's having frights and losing them vs it being a molt? Have you found a large amount of them at any one time vs perhaps a flight feather or 2 every let's say week?

He seems to just strip his feathers because his feathers look like wires now. And the feathers get lose but stuck so I haven't really found any feathers, one seems to be coming off, I'll wait for that one to fall and I'll update the post

So are you saying your bird is barbering its feathers? Is that why they’re missing?

Ok that's what I thought I was seeing at first, but it was hard to tell with the lighting. That's a form of plucking but I haven't seen it very often admittedly. Do you think he's the one doing it to himself or possibly his friend is overpreening him/plucking him?

Yeah he is doing it to himself, is there anyway to help him?
