Hello.

Just a little background.
I'm a new bird owner but not new to birds. I also work for a pet and garden supply store.

The store got some cocktails in that after a few days it was clear they were taken from their nest too young. I started just working with "James" on how to use eat seed/pellets and using dishes. Also the usual socializing. Of course i fell for him. Turns out he is probably a she; those tricky pearls. I've since been calling Rain. She should be about a year to a year and a half now. Give or take. Roughly three months ago I also took on rehabbing a pigeon hit by a car. Sadly it is looking like it will fail the rehab tests/checklist fully. No idea on age other than adult. Just starting to socialize with it.

I also took on rehabbing a pigeon hit by a car. Sadly it is looking like it will fail the rehab tests/checklist fully. No idea on age other than adult. Just starting to socialize with it.

Thank you for trying to help this pigeon! Many people consider pigeons " dirty cousins of the dove" (idiots, IMO).

Last summer I grabbed up a fledgling bird just as some feral cats were about to pounce. I thought it was a mourning dove. As it is illegal to possess mourning doves, I did call the wildlife rehab, every day for a week, to no avail.

Turns out the baby was a Band Tailed Pigeon (which I had never heard of). I named him/her Miyetti. Here's some pictures of him/her.

I did a soft release (though it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do). Spotted Miyetti recently while visiting friends at the apartment complex where we had lived with him/her. Considering that the Band Tailed Pigeon numbers are dwindling, I guess I did the right thing. He/she's contributing to his/her species.

Awww those are some great pidg pics! I more than likely have a Rook pigeon. As I'm warming her into Pet pigeon she's warming up a bit. Happy you go to rehabilitate yours!
