Hi all
I'm new to the group and very new to being a bird mom.
We got our bird on Friday and since then I have lived on Google and in my kitchen. IV cool veg, made apple sauce and spent loads on toys and other treats. Despite all the effort our bird only talks and interacts with my hubby. He is (I think) 1y 4m. He says koooie krap but only to my hubby. What do I do? IV even thought of giving him the bird and buying a baby one next month.... Any advice?

Welcome to you and your new feathered friend!

Your estimate about his age is probably pretty close...I see a ring coming in. :)

IRNs are known to be independent and fairly choosy in whom they pick as favorites. Titan, our IRN, chose my BIL as his favorite person...he tolerated my wife and I, and was a great "birdie ambassador" with the public, but Marty was the person who "hung the moon" for him.
When Marty passed this January, Titan grieved for the loss of his "best buddy". Titan passed on February 6th, just 4 days after his 26th hatch day. I truly believed he passed because of a broken heart.

Your newbie has only been with you guys a short time...give him more time to get to know you. Enjoy his discovery of his new world and new flock members...you and your hubby. I'd hold off on bringing a new bird into the situation.

What's his name...and we'd love to see more pics...:)

We had an Alexandrine named Marlin and we played past the parcel with him. So basically we would past Marlin to each family member who would give him a treat, before passing him on. This was to socialise him with the whole family (flock). When he reached 1 year old he would fly to each family member and say hello or what are you doing?.

Marlin didn't have a favourite and love to socialise with the whole family. I believe it's all about how the bird is socialised within the family. but of course each bird is different.
