My Indian ringneck parrot got injured and has a wound under his left wing at the joint. It's not that big of a wound but it's still big enough for it to pain.

We put betadine on his wound and gave him a drop of medicine prescribed by the vet the same day but he has been acting very sleepy since he got injured.
He is "puffed" and huddling since he got injured.
Is it normal for parrots to sleep more than normal, be tired or eat less due to pain from an injury?
He has also been licking his wound. Is that normal for parrots to do? Does licking help the wound heal faster?
Please provide some information as I'm very worried about him.

One of the biggest risks is infection.
I also suggest a vet visit to rule that out, and if needed receive medicine to prevent/cure any that may be starting.
And yes, puffed and sleepy are common, but not normally for a small wound, I'd worry it may be from injury/infection you're not seeing.

Sorry that happened. Best thing you can do is take him to an avian vet.

Please don’t rely on advice from untrained strangers online as your key source.

Good luck.
Thanks. I just wanted to see if someone else here experienced something similar.

I'm worried about the metal and the chewed paint I'm seeing in your photos.

many metals are toxic to birds, as are chemical in paint. Some are toxic right away and make them very sick and can kill them, other build up over time and cause chronic health issues and decline. So do your research.
