Maybe best for Dr. B to keep Buddy there at his office until marked improvement. Not sure what he would charge to do that?

I know at my vets the 24 hour care was very expensive because they had to pay someone to stay. It would have been $30.00 per hour! Lets hope Dr. B can stabilize Buddy. Maybe he will put him in oxygen for awhile. Tequila needed that and it wasn't too expensive for that part of the treatment.

Deb, you and Buddy are also in my prayers and thoughts. I am hoping things go well with Dr. B. When I took Grim to a CAV, it only cost us $45 a day to keep her there. They even took money off because on two days very little was done except babysit her and give her vitamin injections. I hope something is figured out.

Dr. B is one of the best Avian vets around. If I lived in NC I would go to him. I know he will help Deb with Buddy.

We probably wont hear back until the morning. She had quite a drive there and back, not counting the time for the vet visit. Hoping for the best news in the morning. :hug8:

Maybe she ended up spending the night in Raleigh.

She may have. I know I thought about that same distance from where I live and she had to be exhausted.

As another poster said, I think the approx. regular cost to keep a bird overnight is about $45 or so, as that is also about the price one of the local A.V.s charges here (I think it was actually $35 here - if my memory serves me correctly). Now if a vet tech. has to truly stay at the bird's side around the clock or after hrs., then of course that is a different story but I don't think that is the case here?

Usually there are other birds/animals in the office that also need tending to overnight/during off hrs., therefore the vet would not have to pay qualified people to tend to just Buddy. Doesn't hurt to ask anyway.
