Hey, I'm new baby owner here

Hi, thanks for having me here

I've been reading some posts here and decided to join. I've been gifted a baby cockatiel, they said its 4 weeks old at most, to take care of and wanted to learn as much as I could to make him happy, I named him Jamie, even tho I still dont know if its a male or female one.



Thanks to some advice in here I managed to feed him his formula without trouble.

If you have any advice for a first timer with a cockatiel, we have a couple of love birds already, I would be very thankful.

That is a beautiful cockatiel but 4 weeks is too young for a gift. They will need warmth & proper temperature hand feeding or they could get crop/digestive problems. Have you handfed a baby bird before?
This bird should not have been given as a gift so young or taken away from parents or breeder as its very common for inexperienced handfeeders to not be able to successfully feed the bird.

Hopefully someone will come along with hand feeding advice for a 4 week old tiel which will likely not be weaned until its least 7 to 12 weeks old.

I named my second bird Jaime, not knowing if male or female - it makes for a lovely unisex name

Be sure to weigh your little one daily(keep a diary to monitor loss/gain), and keep him/her warm at all times.

I really hope you enjoy it here! although are you sure your bird is a 4 weeks old cocktail? he/she seems a lot bigger, her/his feathers are all already developed. anyway, he/she looks really adorable! and you should make sure how old he/she is so you can start giving him/her all kind of seeds and veggies
