Hi everyone,

I'm new to owning a Linnie and would love some advice on how to bond with my 3-4 month old Linnie and make him feel more comfortable and safe.

What are some effective ways to build trust and improve my care for him? I also want to let him fly around and be out of the cage, but I'm concerned about maintaining control over the situation, as the room has small places he could get stuck behind. He isn’t comfortable enough yet for anyone to take him to a different room without moving the whole cage in there.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
(Some photos of Bentley too :) )

Aww Bentley is darling! Love those green Linnies!

As I mentioned in our other thread I have a play gym. Each afternoon I put it on a table in front of my couch and I spend some time sitting there reading or watching TV (though the play gym lol). Gigi goes back and forth to me, the gym and back to the cage. I would consider placing something right against the open cage door for Bentley so he can decide if he wants to explore. If he does you could gradually move it away from the cage and he might fly there. You could also attach some boings, rope perches or a rope swing on the outside of the cage near the door. If we do that for Gigi she will often come out and just hang around on them. She's my only bird that has never wanted to rest on top of the cage. Linnies also like to burrow and be beneath things. I hang a little blanket on the side of her gym and she goes to that area and preens or sleeps. If she gets really hormonal I might take it away here and there but she mostly has it available and likes it. It's a safer version of a Happy Hut.
