Budgie Gender??

Hi, so this is my approx eight weeks old budge, Calypso. We originally went to pick up two boys, but on the way out of the breeders, he mentioned that Cal looked a little like a girl in the sun (his/her cere?). What do you all think? I think she’s a girl, purely off the cere, and how different she behaves from any budgie I’ve had before (always had boys).

Looks like a female from the light rings around the nostrils, but I’m not sure. A photo in better light could help.

Certainly looking female. Looks a hell of a lot older than 8 weeks too. I agree, a better photo in natural light would be good.

She looks to be around 3 months because the bars have receded but I think I can see some pin feathers. Though I'm not the best at aging budgies

Edit: can you see her pupil yet? If you can then she could be around 4 months or older

thankyou so much for your reply! I can't see her iris', so I'm guessing she's three months as you said. thanks for the help x

That's a much better pic. I can still see faint head bars, so she may actually be around 8 weeks old. If that's truely the case, she should be going through her first moult soon.

I still think she's older. 12-13 weeks. But that's not really important. You have a pair of beautiful budgies.
