Budgie flew out of the cage

I've owned my two budgies for 9 days (first time owner) and i've been slowly trying to gain their trust, I clean their cage daily, change food, put my hand in the cage, clean bowls etc etc so they have grown to not totally despise my hands. Today while I wanted to clean some poop off of one of their perches disaster struck, one of my non-tamed budgies flew out of cage, saying I panicked was an understatement.
Poor thing flew around my room and as carefully as possible i tried offering him one of the perches I had lying around however I had no luck and he just flew away more scared than before.
Now to the important bit of the story, I didn't want to grab this poor lil guy as I didn't want to put him under even more stress, so after calming down, I decided to slowly approach him and offer him my finger as a perch, at this point he had flown onto my (turned off) fan which he had NO grip on, he indeed sat on my finger and he then let me escort him back to his cage with my other budgie.

This whole was stressful for me so I can't even imagine how stressfull it must have been for both of them however I can't stop thinking about he didn't want to climb on the perch (that was previously in the cage) but he was willing to climb on my finger.
Was this pure desperation from my budgie or him deciding to trust me, even if it was for just a brief a moment?

PS: after this whole hordeal his behaviour hasn't changed, he went right back to eating and preening himself like usual.

Seems like he was scared and he trusted u to get him back to his safe spot.
Thats good.
But theres no reason to panic whenever your budgie flies out of the cage. As long as the windows are covered and your fan is off, and theres nothing else in the house that can hurt it.

It is scary when you're a new budgie owner for this to happen, but as long as the room is bird safe, no worries! I DO believe it was totally trust that led him to get on your finger and take him back to the cage - even mine don't do that! After 6 years, I'm just the maid who feeds, cleans, and talks goofy to them LOL!
