YAY!...so the co-parenting is the way to go then When the WB had large clutches I had assist feed the littler ones. It got where the Momma bird would move aside and let me take the baby to feed it.

That is AWESOME! The mousers sound SO WILLING & ACCEPTING to have your help! The BNs & the WBs!

The little one is 7 days old today. Look at that wide mouth. Earlier it was turned the other way and the little tail looked like it doubled in length since yesterday I can't wait to get todays full body shot.

OK...Mousebird students...those that have 'The Book'... in looking at that adult can you tell which parent is with the baby?

Missi, a clue...which I didn't even realize til I re-read the book...is the BN eyes.

And here is the little one at 7 days old. Yikes!...those wings look so heavy. And it is hard to see but the little crest is coming in. And it is up to 23 grams. The eyes are open, even though not showing in the pix. It's amazing how they change every day.

It's the mama..no maroon in the eye! But you taught me that. Boy..Chubs just hates that camera...or someone is giving him a signal to close his eyes everytime..lol!

Carole...yes it is Mommy, more of the light color shows in the females eyes than the males. Both have the maroon mottling, but the males have more of it.

Here are several pix's of the mouser at 8 days old. It's now up to 26 gr. So it is averaging 3+ grams per day. When I monitored tiel babies weight gains it was 6 grams a day. I got a pix of the eye partially open this time. It even called to Daddy bird and he answered! And it can raise and lower it's little crest. Look how big those feet are And some color is just barely starting to show.

Lets hope that Chubs with the BIG feet is indeed a boy.

Those feet will be big enough to band soon And if you notice the color is still pale, which will start to change to a dark maroonish color later on. And that beak has a long way to go to look like a BN beak...LOL The dark skin patch is starting to show around the eye...

I just peeked in on them. It takes 2 birds to cover the little one. Today is a little warmer, it is in the low 50's. Mommy bird covers the body, and Daddy bird covers the tail end...LOL
