Awaiting a baby to be weaned!

Hello! Nice to “meet” you all! So, I’ve been researching which type of parrot I’d be a good fit for, and have come down to two, which are both still a little while away from being weaned… It’s between a White Capped Pionus and a Cape Parrot, both of which I adore, but am having trouble deciding between… Any advice from personal experience with either one or in general would be so appreciated! Thank you!

Best of luck with your decision.
I'm a big fan of Poicephalus so if it were me I would get the Cape but that's me.
Have you been able to visit with those two parrots?

Tough decision!! I have never personally owned either, but I decided a while back that if I were ever to pick out another bird, it would either be a pionus or poicephalus species because I hear such wonderful things about them. I don't know that I myself would have a Cape, just because their giant beaks scare me a little bit. :loltears: Just meet both birds and pick whichever one you feel a stronger connection with. Post pics of your new baby as well!! :welave:

Hi! Thank you for your input! They are both super young, so no, I have not met them yet… I think I’m leaning more towards a WCP, as I spoke with a few friends with bird, and it sounds like I’d be a better fit for them. As soon as I even mentioned it, everyone said Pionus, hands down. I’m pretty tiny, so they might also be easier for me to handle. Although I still am so tempted by the Cape!

I know, right?! Well, I think the Pionus is going to be the one… I spoke with quite a few people today, and I think I’d be better matched with he or she.

Awesome!!! Pionus are so beautiful, I can't wait to see the pics of your new baby! A white-crowned pionus is a dream bird for me :xflove: someday!
