Another caique?

Hi everyone,
I have a male white bellied caique who recently turned 3 years old and I’m starting to regret not getting another one when he was younger.

He spends a lot of time out of the cage, but when he has to be in it i notice him sometimes just waiting for one of us to come and get him rather than playing with his toys.

He’s definitely started to express more hormonal behaviors and I do worry about aggressive behavior towards other bird species, however i’ve never had the opportunity to introduce him to another caique.

Given all of this, I would love to hear some thoughts on whether introducing another caique (male or female) at his age could potentially improve his overall happiness/well-being or whether it has a greater likelihood of causing distress to both him and the other bird. I would also be grateful for any general advice on how to make his time alone more enjoyable for him -

Thanks in advance!

Apologies if this is already something you've considered...

Generally introductions between any birds needs to be done slowly and carefully.

If you get a 2nd caique then do you get a younger one or older one.

Are you prepared for different outcomes

- if they become friends but while they're in the introduction stage, maintaining 2 cages and dedicating however long they'll need

- possibly upgrading the size of your existing cage if they do get along and become cage mates

- they might get along well but maybe not be able to live in the same cage

- if they don't get along, will you be able to keep the 2nd bird

- things can go well for your bird but not for you - the newer caique may become hormonal or aggressive

Is it better to work on your existing bird and see if you can reduce those unwanted behaviours or better manage them before deciding on getting another bird or caique?

Sorry if this left you with more questions than answers
