I'm planning on buying an air purifier and was wondering if there's anything I need to look out for, or if any one will do. I see a lot of things about ions and honestly I have no idea what any of it means.
I believe ions are best to avoided. As well as ozone. There's are older where we talked this. @Mizzely had some good info in it. I'll try to find it for you
Yes, avoid ozone producing/generating or ionizing! Some models let you turn it off, others you can't, so you'll have to pay attention. I'll try to find the article

Honeywell seems to be a popular brand: Honeywell Air Purifier | Air Cleaner | Air Filters | Air Quality
Good to do a price comparison at different sites with the Honeywells.
Just make sure that if the air purifier that you purchase comes with an ionizer function you can turn that off.
Also if there is a UV function, you want to be able to turn that off, too.
Germ Guardian 4 in 1 with UVC bulb which you can turn off and on as needed. I had one with possible issues but all in all I like them. The filters are reasonablely priced and easy to find at local stores. The one thing that I always suggest in once a week vacuum the pre filter both sides especially if you have dust bunnies for birds.
