What color is he/she? I do like Casper, but Masashi is cool too.

I would not use your old cage for finches or canaries due to the large bar spacing. A tiny finch could probably squeeze through an opening that wide! Really, I would just take it back. There are so many better cages out there for whatever bird you may want to buy in the future.

This is my bird right here. :) Sorry the picture is flipped.

Do you have any guesses to wether or not it's a boy or a girl?

Nice. You used an iPad right? Always happens to me. Anyway, I associate Casper with white, and this bird is clearly mostly yellow and grey. In fact mostly grey with a yellow head. Greybeard? Sunflower? I'm lame, I think I'll stop torturing both of us now.

I still only know what one of my Amazons is. The smaller Amazon I have is actually a male! The next time they have to draw blood from MC, I'll pay the extra $ to figure it out.

I had Secret tested because of health issues - the vet seemed to think it would be good to know because of that.

I like all of your name choices. You may want to say them each, softly, in front of your bird and see if the bird reacts to any of them. Maybe the cockatiel has a choice!

How old is he? Right now he appears to be in juvenile feathers.

My bird is around 3 months old. Do you recommend DNA testing?
Just saw this.

Does he try to sing? Whistle?

He appears to be a silver pearl mutation. Dilute grey pearl. At this age you won't know its a boy or girl unless it sings. Males begin to sing at this age. Most females do not. But some females do.

Between 6-10 months old they molt into adult feathers. Females will keep their same feathers and males will begin to get a yellow head and lose any pearl on their wings and those zebra colors on their tails disaapears.

My bird only mostly sings when I show birds chirping on YouTube.

Sings as in whistles or just tiel chirps? Many can get the two confused.

Hey I noticed he is on a plastic perch. Please remove those when you are able to. Good natural branches 5/8-1" in diameter are prefered. Rope perches too. No plastic or straight pine branches. Bad for the feet you see.:)

Well those perches that come with the cage are called straight pine perches and they're very bad on their feed. You'll need to buy better ones:)

Perhaps you can trade the old cage for store credit and get some nice perches, toys, and food? Here's a photo of my cage if you're looking for ideas (not that I'm saying it's the best cage in the world but I did put some effort into it!).

Rope ones and the ones with bark on them at the petstore work. 5/8"-1" thick. Not super skinny ones :)

An old picture of my tiels setup before I moved. They are no longer in this cage. But you can see how it looks. I can show inside photos if you want. See the rope and wooden and rope ones. Lotsa variety. I have more pics if you want to see.
