Baytril usually covers Pseudomonas however I read this in my clinical medicine book.

Enrofloxacin ( baytril ) is currently the only
veterinary-labeled fluoroquinolone. It has excellent
activity against mycoplasma, some gram-positive
bacteria and most gram-negative bacteria. Resis-
tance of Pseudomonas spp. is occasionally seen.

I have no fear of F10 up to 1/250 concentration with parrots. I've submerged my amazon in 1/250 concentration for about 5 minutes, let to dry without rinsing.

As a note, I did a pretest on his foot before doing this. ;)

Might be easier to take a screenshot, then share that...

Just Print Screen (or PrtScn) key, then paste into the reply and the forum will upload the image. Just be careful, because the image you share will be what you see on your screen! As an example.... I have dual screens.... (F11 to make the window go full screen or back to normal)

If you know how to use any paint editing programs, you could crop the image.

I would think though that in most cases, this shouldn't be necessary, you could just direct a person to a specific spot within the article itself.... i.e. Page 3, Topic ____________.

Well if it's resistant to baytril I wonder what's next. It would explain the weird droppings, but I wonder how long a bird could live with this condition. Vader has had bad poo since I've had him.

Your poops were pretty consistent with a formula bird. ;) They are not going to appear as "normal poop" photos consuming all that extra water. ;)

@Hankmacaw I am going to ask this question again, is it possible that Vader had this coming from the breeder??

So Vader finished his antibiotics this morning, but still has three more days before the vet appointment. Should I take him back tomorrow instead?

I guess I'm just worried the baytril didn't work since he'd already had it for a week prior to getting the culture samples taken.

@rocky'smom - not pseudomonas. it is a bacteria that is around all the time, but when it gets thick or a bird is immune suppressed it will flourish. Coccidia is many times from the mother.

@Joey wade he will need a couple of days before going back to the vet. It will take that long for the antibiotics to get out of his system so the vet can test again.

Yes, boiling all water that Vader comes in contact with for 30 min will take care of the bacteria (all bacteria). I don't know how trustworthy the bottled water is in Thailand, but distilled water would be fine except that there are no trace minerals in it and long term drinking distilled water is not good.

Bottled water is pretty trustworthy. Same brands and purifying methods as back home. The only distilled water here is made for car batteries or radiators or something like that. You buy it at the mechanic shops. I went through this isssue with the toucan and eventually decided I didn't trust the quality of the water if it's intended purpose was for automobiles.
