View attachment 306778 Coco went back to the hospital today.
She was so uncomfortable after eating. The Dr wanted to see her right away. So they are trying pain meds and watch her for a couple days.

I'm so sorry to hear she had to go back! I'm just reading this thread tonight. She's probably going to want to sleep a bunch after this visit too! You know how it is in the hospital, your anxious cause it's not home & you have barely seen anyone you really know.

I'm sending tons of Healing thoughts to her. & a couple of air beak kisses. She's got a beautiful little face!

I've been following you and Coco on FB- I saw the thread but haven't been checking in. I'm so sorry you and Coco are dealing with this. She's such a little fighter- and you are too, Danita. I'm sending all my good thoughts your way.

She was better tonight. This morning she was not good at all. They started treating her for pancreatitis. Bloodwork should be back tomorrow.
I was a mess today with worry.

It's so worrisome with Coco going up and down healthy wise. You think it was the blockage back in March of 2018 that start all of this still? The e-coli? If was that she been battling this for over a year now so if it makes sense that it will take sometime for her be back to herself.

Urg!!! I hate that you and Coco are going though this. Sounds like it touch and go. In my heart of hearts I have to believe she's going to make it through all this. She is such a little fighter :heart: You and your flock will be in my thoughts and prayers

I just found out, she is okay, finally. I can exhale. I posted this on FB just now!
Coco Health Update
Thank goodness, it all came together tonight. Without a CT scan, ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, fecal samples, bowel and stomach samples, staying at the clinic for some time, and finally a consult with an Avian CT Specialist in the USA we have an answer, or safe to assume this is the problem! Three and a half weeks to diagnose. Coco is so lucky, her Doctor cares enough to go through all this "She is an expensive bird" lol
~~~We were worried it was gastric cancer and it is NOT~~~
So basically, she had damage in her bowel walls from the Endoscopic procedure last year (she ingested something and it had to be removed) She had an E Coli infection which we only found out, because she chewed and swallowed her feeding tube! The fluids from the tube were sent off after it was removed the next day. That showed E. Coli. The CT scan revealed that she had stomach inflammation, that is why it was so uncomfortable to eat, it hurt. The inflammation just wasn't getting better. Her infection was, but not the stomach. The CT scan was sent for a second opinion and that doctor (avian specialist in CT scans USA) said she had atherosclerosis in the blood vessels leading to her stomach. So her stomach wasn't healing. Now she is on heart meds! So her tummy should heal JUST Fine. I sure hope I got that right, I sort of black out when I talk to vets about my animals lol
I thank ALL the staff at Night Owl Bird Hospital and my Avian Vet who cares so much about all her patients! This would not have happened if she didn't care, we wouldn't have figured it out.
I know, right?
It took so much to figure it out.
I wish all birds could have the same. I bet lots go undiagnosed properly or due to funds, unable to get everything needed to save their bird.
Not like I have money or anything, I am on a 5 year payment plan :lol:
