Just emptied a fresh batch for tomorrow so set another soaking.
I wasn't quite prepared for how much the sprouts expand! Day 1 I gave the birds half the sprouts (with tiny root tails visible)...
Next morning I woke up to find the jar was full . I gave half again.

So far they still smell fresh and I rinse 3-4 times a day. ...but they're still expanding and filling the jar!

Next batch will start with fewer seeds... It's a learning curve I guess..

Mine hasn't been very diverse this week so I haven't been taking photos. Basically the frozen veggies mix, broccoli slaw mix, sprouts, and Higgins and/or bird bread.

I'm ready to grab a fork and dive in with the birds!
Weirdly I cook and prep for my dog and birds..
Meanwhile I grab a sandwich or a slice of cheap grocery store frozen pizza for myself...

If you are using bird seed you need to make sure it is just seed and not fortified seed.

I usually do 1-2 tbsp at a time; I learned a few years ago much like you did that a little makes a lot

It is a cheap seed I was forced to buy when I ran short and couldn't find anything better online or in the local pet supply store.
I fed my birds on it three days only before I was able to get their regular birdseed blend.
The seeds listed correspond to their regular seed mix... only without the added vitamins and minerals.

I still feel like I'm flying blind here and I agonize over trying to "get it all right".

Regardless, I feel I'm much more well-informed than my parents were years ago.
We were told then to feed seed and give our budgies a mirror and all would be okay.
Our budgies were "look, but don't touch".

We were recommended a travel cage at best.

Most basic veggies I could manage today, carrot, capsicum, butternut, and rehydrated veggie mix :) Small chunks for everyone.

The focus today is butternut squash, I gave them some fresh. Later will roast for all of us. They do have romaine, celery with celery leaves, carrots , fresh green beans and cauliflower.

Mixed veggies, butternut squash, riced cauliflower and sweet potato, Higgins Worldly Cuisines mixed with powdered freeze dried veggies, a bit of soaked seed, and a dusting of Miracle Meal. :)

Ripley dives straight into the Higgins, Bosco into the corn.

Healthy crunchy snack with extra protein snuck in - air popped popcorn drizzled with natural almond butter, tiny bit of raw honey and flax seeds sprinkled on. I munched some too, quite tasty!!
