I have a baby cockatiel about a week ish old and all the sudden he can no longer poop on his own he can digest everything just fine but it gets to just behind his butthole and I have to assist him by massaging his butt I can see him trying but nothing happens he seems to have low energy he will beg for food a bit but then hell just go back to sleep she does feed him I was hoping maybe letting his crop fully drain might do the trick but I dont know what to do I dont have money for a vet.

If none of that works and you cannot afford a vet, outlook for this bird is not good. Please consider not breeding until you have a vet fund.

I don't raise cockatiels but -- your baby looks dehydrated to me. Are you able to give him some water? Just dribble on the side of the beak, he'll swallow, repeat. It's very slow like 1/2 hour to get a decent amount in.

Just me, but I would never try to empty the crop. It's too dangerous.

I'm not going to drain manually I'm just going to let him digest it and for being dehydrated he looks just like his siblings so I dont know if he would be dehydrated

Okay. Are the parents doing the feeding or are you hand feeding?

I will try water and see what happens what temp should it be? does this mean they could all be dehydrated? because the baby is the only one having issues.

Somehow this one is the only one with issues. Did you wipe his bottom with a damp q-tip?

I'll try to look up a temperature. I would do 99 for mine...

When preparing the formula, it is important to test the temperature of the mixture. The temperature needs to be between 100 degrees and 105 degrees.

I do that when I assist feed i only assist feed onece a day or whenever I see the mother struggling because the father seems uninterested and even scared of his children.

Sorry. The water, just get it in a syringe or a small spoon. Do you have a feeding spoon? Only give to him if he is begging or if you dribble it on the side, so he won't aspirate.

All I've ever done is rub their butt with a wet q-tip. I don't know what it could be. Can you call a vet? Maybe they can shed some light.
