I am running out of toy ideas for my Conure, Rio. HELP!

He does not like paper no matter the type - bags, boxes, cardboard, toilet paper - even if it has a treat in it.
He isn't much on plastic parts either.

He likes things made of metal he can open or take apart. - metal rings, etc. He also loves shinny charms that have mirrors.

I know some metals are toxic, but stainless steel is safe.

I also recommend A/S! The toys I recently got from Doris are just beautiful, really amazing quality.

Have you tried soft woods with him? Balsa wood is hard for any parrot to resist and thin pine is also a good choice for a cheekie.
Good luck! :)

Thank you for the great ideas!!

Wood is a good idea. I bought him a few wood toys with different type, but sadly he has no interest.

I think the toys on the website you both suggested will be a hit!

Does anyone have any ideas where you could buy the parts and make your own?

JosienBB - WOW! It looks like you have a Painted Conure. He/she is beautiful. Where did you get him/her? I have been trying to find one for about 6 months. After posting on several forums and contacting all the breeders listed for them online, I only found one that is very high priced on the other side of the country.

I got Ophelia in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (I live in Canada). She was not cheap either

Do you live in Canada? You can't import a bird from Canada into the US (unless you pay an insane amount of money and fill out a tonne of paperwork).

Update: I just looked up the aviary I got her from and it looks like they don't exist anymore :(

I highly suggest you check out Welcome to Tweety Pie's Bird Toys - Where the parrots shop when they reopen. Balsa wood is quite irresistable to almost all birds.
Thanks for the shout out!
Yes, I'm the self appointed balsa queen. I love love love working with balsa. And I really have not met a bird that did not enjoy ripping it apart. Check out TPBT and look around. I'll be happy to help. There will also be some new designs when I reopen :)
