I am the owner of 2 diamond doves and 2 society finches. I recently crocheted a nest liner for the nest in their cage, wanting to make it more cozy for them and expecting them to enjoy it. They are very put off by the liner I made for them and don’t want to get in the nest when I put it in there, even when I put straw and natural items they like in the nest as well. The colors of the yarn are muted blues, greens, and pinks, all colors that are already present in their cage. Is it an issue with the crochet, the colors, the texture, or will this be something they’ll get used to? They’ve been very open to changes and new things are very explorative and eager to find new things to interact with normally, I expected this to be something they would have fun with.

I’d personally remove the crochet item.
I understand that different stitches and yarn can be used as well as different tension to alter the holes/gaps of the stitches but I’d honestly be very concerned about toes/nails getting stuck as a main issue.
