Chester, my lil' budgie is spending the night at the vets. She had previously been diagnosed with Ovarian/ Reproductive tract cancer, and had 6 cc's of clearish fluid drained today from her uterus. She's on antibiotics and is stable, but one thing I forgot to ask the vet is if this cancer is painful, and if we are doing her more harm than good keeping her with us. I'm really worried that she is in pain.

Thanks, everyone- I apprecicate the support I get here from all of you. I definintely will address my concerns with my vet, we've been on this road since she was diagnosed early this summer. Leslie posted on the thread I wrote then, but the treatment protocols my vet is using are different, IIRC. I'm just worried that I'm being selfish in wanting her to stay with us, because we love her so much.

My BF talked to the vet today and she said Chester is not in pain and is doing much better. She's in a heated hospital cage @ the Avian Medical Center and apparently eating and chirping. I pick her up tomorrow morning. We have to watch her and weigh her to make sure she isn't producing more uterine fluid, but we're hopeful that we can keep her a bit longer. I'm so glad she's better!
