My coworker just found a BG outside, she called me up and told me I'm the first person she thought of. She's trying to find the owner but she said if by the end of April if she can't find the owner she wants me to have it. I did just get my two ekkies in the past 3 months. But to me this...

Here's a link to the previous thread for people who don't know the story. We've decided to name her River. (At least thats the plan right now)

I'm gonna be posting updates and stuff as I get her here like I do/did Basil and Mel so I can get a couple tips of things im doing right and wrong and just to document training and bonding progress and stuff. I know macaws are a whole different world so I'm nervous but super excited too!

As far as the room goes, we finished ripping up the carpet today and put vinyl flooring down. Tomorrow we are covering the walls with vinyl as well. We are getting the cage the same day we get her. I'm driving alone there since there wont really be room in the car for a second person, a cage, and a travel cage with a macaw in it. So that'll be a quite boring 6 hour drive next week!

I'm pretty nervous of that as well. If anything feels wrong I'll leave right away. I was planning on pretty much not going past her door.

She doesnt have a travel cage and hasn't handled the bird at all since she got her a couple months ago, her mom has a little. So anywhere else is pretty much a no go.

Shes no longer a coworker, she quit and moved right before she contacted me about the bird about 2 weeks before, I just keep calling her a coworker because she was.

Nice! I'm so glad I put similar flooring in when we moved here. Not a dent despite hard use and multiple species and their respective destruction and accidents.

I managed to get a whole week off of work 13th-19th for her. Right now my dad is putting on some scrappy little rubber baseboards that we can just take off or keep replacing so the room will be pretty much fundamentally done when I get home tonight! We just have to move stuff in and order ropes for the ceiling!
