Just an update for you all!
Before I left for work, I spent some more time with Prudence, and it seems the chewing is because she is trying to chew off a small flap of skin that was lifted during the pinch. She is trying to chew that piece off (you know when you scrape yourself, there is that first layer of skin that lifts....thats all)....I toweled her, got hubby to hold while I put the paste on, and then I snipped that little flap of skin with a pair of suture scissors. She didnt tolerate all of that very well, but before I left she was in her typical sleeping position, with one foot clutching a toy, and the other the cage bars, so I feel pretty confident she's okay. Had she of been keeping it tucked up, and not sleeping where she normally does I would have been more concerned. I left her there, but have plans of returning home half way through my shift to check on her, and make sure I dont need to bring her in.
Thanks so much for everyones kind and supportive words.
Good Call on the Cayanne Pepper being inhaled. I usually sprinkle it on some AO mash and stir it in, and tonight I just sprinkled it on some steamed veggies and mashed them all up, but I can see how the poweder sitting loose on top of something would be a problem. Iw ill have to be careful of that in the future.
