How horribly frightening for you -
Glad to hear that surgery went well and she is home, and that a vet in an ER clinic actually knew what to do and was able to bring her through surgery successfully! (wouldn't have been so lucky in my area with an ER vet)

Best wishes to Penny for a speedy recovery .

As everyone else said, stuff happens even when you are vigilant. All you can do is take a very deep breath and go forward.

So glad she's going to be okay :hug8: It can be tricky when you have more than one sharing the same space. And, it only takes a moment, so it could happen to any of us. Don't beat yourself up. You are an excellent bird mom.

I'm happy to hear she pulled through.

Accidents do happen. When I first had Petey, I went to the kitchen to get something and left my boyfriend in charge of watching over and then he came to ask me a question for 5 seconds and that is all it took..Petey bit Piper on the beak pretty badly, although we were lucky enough that he got him where he did (it could have affected the cells which are responsible of beak growth had it been slightly over). I felt terrible but it just makes you that much more conscious about watching them when they are out together.

I do hope you won't blame Eddy for this. While he did do this, he's not aware that it is wrong.

Keeping you and Penny in my thoughts!
Accidents happen...you know now they can't be out at the same time and watch when one of them is out to make sure it stays away from the other!
What instructions did the vet send home with you about keeping her for the next week?
I know some vets will tell you to keep them warm/quiet and away from the other birds while they are healing...course giving the meds also!
Just keep an eye on the area while it is healing...you will be surprised at what those beaks/feet can do to spots you don't think they can get to!LOL
Please keep us updated on how Penny is doing:hug8:

Oh PLEASE PLEASE don’t blame yourself. This is why they call them accidents, forgive yourself and realize you took her in right away and that she is okay. It happens, mistakes happen and we learn from them. I’ve made plenty, heck we all have here. Im just glad she is going to be okay and you have our full support. Nobody is blaming you. Please forgive yourself.

Thanks, everyone. You are all amazing. Truly. She seems to be in good spirits today, and is eating normally, so I am hoping that she recovers quickly. Thank you for being here.
