at this point a good vet close is probably better than an excellent vet 5 hr away. for one thing. that would put you at the excellent vet after normal business hours and they may not see you that late.... oh wait, what time zone are you in? oh i see you're on the way to the vet. good. we may be making a mountain outta a mole hill. but when it comes to weird behavior that involves 'hunkering down' well, better safe than sorry.

Are you sure something is wrong? My Roca (GCC) sometimes will sit forward like that if she's feeling tired and cuddly. We've never seen her do it on her own, but when she's cuddling with us sometimes shell lean forward almost into her crop.

It's good that you're checking with vet in either case, but I'm hoping that its nothing

I've been told, that if a bird is pooing they are not egg bound. But I don't know if it's just anecdotal. I would call your vet and see. Does she have eggie butt? You should be able to see a bump.

I had such mixed feelings at the vet. She has not allowed a scritch or a step up in many moons. The fact that she was letting me while we were waiting gave me mixed joy. I'm still here. They are doing X-rays and further examination. They kicked me out for a couple of hours. Probably a good thing.

Yes I was on my way. I'm waiting for X-ray and results of his examination. (Egg bound)???? I will be waiting another 2 hrs. I was pleased that the doc told ME that by the time you see symptoms you are in trouble. That tells me a lot about his of emergency.
