Omg! You just cant ever get rid of people who want to wag their finger at others!!! The cage is not plastic!!!! The cover that is on it is not to catch seed... it comforts her. And normally is removed during the day but transferring her to a new cage I wanted her comforted and it kept her calm.. good lord your an arse. Birds are different just like people!! She does not like high places... that's why I put that pedi perch there as I knew shed use it minimally. I would move it or take it out if she was on it all the time! The cage is 2 feet by 2 feet... definitely large enough for her... She is out free in the house most of the time! She already has a rope perch in there...I am well aware of the wooden perches issues, I have others on order but the ones that are in there have been "roughed up" for now. Is there anything else you'd like to criticize??? I honestly dont care anymore as you've ruined this forum for me already... Rude and unnecessary... I will not be returning.
For those of you who gave me well meaning advice and answered my questions I thank you immensely.
For future reference for the poster that I'm referring to you need to save your unwanted advice for someone who is actually mistreating an animal. I'm so sick and tired of people wagging there fingers at others with criticism like they're perfect. I actually bought this bird originally a $400 dollar beautiful big cage and she hated it!!! Absolutely hated it!!! And was miserable! This cage was more appropriate for THIS bird. Omg I'm so annoyed! Must be nice to be perfect! The world is so full of people criticizing and trying to put others down... I'm just sick of it! Peace out.
I see.... some birds may like small and covered places for a variety of reasons like roosting, nesting, seeking refuge from predators.
Did you recently purchase this bird?
Perhaps they may not like such a large cage initially as it it still scared and unsure of it's new environment, things, sounds, people in it.
But once it settles in and is more confident you can try to transition him to the big, beautiful cage you had bought for him.
What you can try to do as Zara mentioned earlier is put a temporary safe zone in the cage. Like a wooden box where it can feel safe when it's in the cage and get acclimated to it's new environment. Eventually she will get used to it, slowly explore and see that it is not bad as the thought it was.
And even if she is afraid of the big cage now.
It is essential for her well-being that you really put effort into socializing her and desensitize her to the larger cage as it is important that they need lots of space to exercise, climb etc.
