Male or female?

Got my first recessive pied budgie last week.the breeder told me it was female but I'm not so sure.can anyone help?4/5months old

I read somewhere that when budgies are younger that male and females look the same. I hope that someone more knowledgeable will help you out.

Beautiful birdo! I am most likely not the most knowlageable to take a shot, so I'm just going to attach a graph I found.
It does look a bit rosie, which would lead me to believe It'd be a male, bit it might just be the lighting.
The ceres do look quite similar in babies though..
Anyway he/she is a very preety bird!

Thus budgie is recessive pied, which is not covered by that chart. A mature male recessive pied would have a rich pink/purple cere.

Same guy, a bit younger. Unfortunately I have no other photos of the mature fella. Sometimes we're thrown the occasional curve ball.

With how flat the cere appears, I'd want to say female... but color wise, says male.

Wait a few more months and if it remains pink, definitely a male!
