Male or female Budgie?

Hi! I posted something like this awhile back while he was still a baby, but I still can’t figure out if my budgie is a male or female. I refer to him as “he” because I always have but his cere seems to change from pinkish to bluish to purplish throughout the day. He has gone through two molts already. I got him around mid July. Also does anyone know anything about his color variety? I’ve never seen one like his. Let me know if you need more photos. Thank you!

Could you post a picture of his Cere, more of a close up and a wee bit more color saturation?

My money is also on female.

As for the color, looks like a blend of different mutations. Dilute coloring, pied markings, cinnamon barring. Very interesting base color too.

It is hard to tell in the photos - is her lower half pale yellow or true white? Could be either yellow-face or green with other modifiers. Looks pale but the shade is dark, so maybe olive green with some dilution. Or grey green?

I would guess she is yellow-faced blue, pied and cinnamon. And she has some kind of dilution gene, not sure which one. Sorry I can't be more help. It gets tricky when there is a lot going on. Some of the possible combinations can be pretty similar looking.

The lower half is white! It just looks more yellow in the photos because I upped the saturation to help see the cere color a bit more.

That's what I was thinking. In that case, definitely yellow-faced, rather than a true green.

In other parrots, this mutation would be described as a type of par-blue or "partial blue". Yellow-faced blue budgies have yellow pigment around their face and upper body, but it fades away as you go down their body. Areas that would be green appear blue or blue-green. Areas that would be yellow look pale yellow or white. It is very obvious on a bird with the INO mutation. A green bird with the ino mutation is a solid bright yellow lutino. A blue bird will be solid white. And a yellow-faced blue (par-blue) bird expressing the ino mutation will be a creamino - pale yellow fading to white.

This is one of my yellow-faced blue girls. Notice how she looks like a blend of blue and green.

It is one of my favorite color mutations. So cool looking and it mixes with other color mutations in interesting ways.

Not a guess, she's clearly a girl. Her cere has started turning brown above the nares.

@Screech tagged me in your original thread. Wonder why I didn't see a notification.
