So, I am 19 years old and have wanted a sun conure for years, I got a cage setup and was currently searching for a hand-fed baby(I wanted a more cuddly attached bird since I have plenty of time and attention for one). But before I could locate a breeder my father sadly got me one from a bird show, which to my knowledge is not good.. well they didn’t ask any questions about the baby so all I know is they are 3-4 months old. That’s all :/
I suspect they were parent raised and not socialized as they are pretty scared of humans. I’ve had them a few days and they will eat millet out of the palm of my hand but if I try to touch them at all they fly away and they REFUSE to step on me at all even if i bribe them with food.
I know all birds are tameable.. but I fear because they had no socialization at all seemingly until now they will always be more skittish and not-cuddly and will not seek out human affection. Which is sad because I do really want that.
Can anyone help? What do I do? Will they ever want to cuddle with me and interact like a hand fed socialized baby would? I don’t know what to do I’ve only owned a green cheek before a long time ago and they were immediately bonded to me from the car ride home.
