Not to mention she asked about sneezing, and it took two pages to get anyone to even suggest what might cause it.

Regarding the sneezing part, as you have had some great advice with the comfort feedings, I do know that my GCC has sneezed a few times a day nearly every day since I got him at 5 months old. (He still does! He is now 2 1/2 years old) I took him to 3 different avian vets about it and they found nothing wrong. So I would at least have him checked to make sure. He sure is a cutie!!
I have a nearly 6yr old Sun Conure, who can't (yet) talk. He has developed a small repetoire (SP) of sounds that we use to communicate. 'click, click' like telling a horse to giddy-up; kiss kiss kiss (like you say to your cat; 'tchew' that sounds like a birdy sneeze. It is just a possibility to think about. Make his little noises back to him !:zipped1:

I think that it's worth noting that sneezing (which may actually be coughing since they can sound similar) has NOTHING to do with weaning or not being weaned.

There might be a noise that an unweaned conure makes that could be interpreted as a sneeze, which I guess is what took this thread in the comfort food direction.

Sneezing can be caused by something as simple as dander in the nares. Sneezing twice a day does not seem at all worrisome to me, but the simplest thing to do is ask a vet!

Hahahaha Yes It was a question on a sneeze and it led to me preparing oatmeal and pellets..Not what I expected LOL
Thankyou he hasn't sneezed once today and I think I know why......My Dad opened up the window  yes, he did, that is one of the moments when the palm of your hand smacks your forhead!! LOL I told dad about the sneezing and he said...I don't know. Then this morning he was opening my window again and I'm like " Dad Wha are you doing! You can't open the window that brings in drafts that can make skittles sick!" Then dad said " Oh..I found why your bird is sneezing then.." Hahaha..Classic dad.
I will go ask a vet since we sadly have to make a visit there ( My dog cut his foot pad :( ) But actually might ask the bredder since she is like a avian vet. She said anything wrong ask me.

Hi there Rachel,

Congratulations on your beautiful baby sun. Please listen/take on board (IE Investigate Further) what advice has been given here, this place is a god send.

I understand you feel grateful toward your breeder... BUT you need to source and speak to an Avian Vet, as normal vets are VERY limited in what they can help with. Birds are such a specialist field and are so delicate when it comes it their respiratory system.

There are quite a few Avian Vets In Victoria(Lucky you, I only have one here in SA!!) and Im not sure exactly where you are... but this is one for example

http://www.melbournebirdvet.com/ (This is in Scoresby)

Please take your baby to have a check up at a qualified Avian Vet. Even is there is nothing wrong with him, it is good to start a relationship with a good avian vet and set some groundwork in place for the future should anything ever happen (Illness/Accidents ETC)

Just to expand on the hand feeding side- ABSOLUTELY DO IT!! All birds love it and I feel it very important. Just so you know, My 5 Year Old Ringnecks have oatmeal (uncle Tobys Oats) EVERY NIGHT before bed-Fed to them by us on a spoon on the lounge
. They cant/wont/flatly refuse to go to bed without their oats. And to be honest, I couldnt put them to bed without it

Heheheh Thankyou Blackford! I use Uncle Toby Oats too! Hahahaha! I am in the melbournearea but the city is 1:30 hours away. I will check that website though, because a check up doesn't hurt anything! ( But your wallet/purse lol)
My boy didn't take much interest in the oats though, I will do it again tonight anyway. I will see if I can leave early for Taekwondo ( My sport) And stop by some pet shops and places for toys, hand feeding formula ect. he i becoming qite spoilt!
And sun Coast I will check out those websites now :)
