Hi im just writing to ask as ive had my ducorps cockatoo for just over a year now and hes started being noisier, more destructive, more confident and more menacing behaviour hes also more aggressive hes bitten me twice today and he only ever tries to bite when he doesnt want to go to me when on his favourite people (i am trying to get my family to stop touching his wings and tail but he forces himself onto our hands which i kind of interpret as sexual behaviour although im not completely sure) if anyone knows what sexual behaviour looks like in a ducorps please reply to this thread.

I also forgot to say he has an obsession with a red pen i own and i had it on me at the time could this of triggered the aggression and could he feel a bond with it and try to mate with it as he does force his tail onto it.

Welcome! It does sound like you are describing hormonal behavior in a cockatoo. Unfortunately, this is part of owning parrots, and something that will pass eventually.

It sounds hormonal to me too. Try to redirect him if he's trying to get touches he shouldn't get.

Yes I agree :yes3: Just wanted to add that sometimes it take a little bit to figure out what's the best way to redirect him. New object, favorite toy/material, ect... Hormones are difficult to deal with especially if this is your first time dealing them. It's trying at times, but with patience and time things usually get better. There are lots different things to try, the trick is finding out what works best for and your bird. Best of luck with it :)
