Tonight around 7 pm I noticed my 6 year old cockatiel with his eyes slightly closed like when they are just waking up, but kept them like that for a long time so I started to check up on him and noticed some sticky yellowish liquid around his face. Then while I was calling a vet to see if they had an avian specialist I saw him throw up some clear liquid, and took him to the emergency room but they had no avian vet so she did what she could and gave him a shot of metaclopramide to help his gut mobility, this was recommended to her by an avian vet over the phone. He is eating a but and drinking water but still has his eyes half shut and looks a bit puffed up. She told me to go to the avian vet tomorrow morning to get more tests done. I was wondering if anyone has had an experience like this and what have they done to take care of their cockatiel ?
i attached a picture of how he looks, I have now separated him and put him in a small cage with a heated perch and humidifier to help him over night.

Yes, it's happened to my birds. Most likely he has an infection of some kind that the vet will diagnose and treat. Metoclopramide (Reglan) is great for symptomatic relief. I'd just let him rest tonight. When you see the vet, you may want to request that he get some fluids injected to help perk him up. You should also ask for a gram stain and possibly fecal cultures. He looks like he's just not feeling well in the picture. As long as he's able to perch and his grip doesn't seem weak, I think he should be okay overnight.

Thank you, I am now waiting for the test results on a gram stain and a crop swap. He got some fluids injected as well to help him feel better.

Awesome! If he's still vomiting, you could also ask for some oral Metoclopramide to take home.

I had the same issue with one of my caiques. They gave her and antibiotic and it fixed her right up. I hope you little one gets well soon.

Thank You for the recommendation, we got that too. We were told he wasn’t vomiting but regurgitating.
