Building my own cage + inviting a new flock member

Hello, my family and I are in the middle of a home renovation and at some point once my new room is built at the end of this year, I'll be moving into it. It's currently a storage room and where a wardrobe used to be is where I'll be putting this cage. Here are the measurements, but I think I'll make it smaller than this-
L: 2200mm
W:2420mm
D: 900mm
I'd like to replicate a wild conure's habitat to the best of my ability. So I want to be as natural as possible, provide areas to forage and just make a cool enclosure with my conure(s) in mind :)

I have a male 7 year old GCC named Majora who recently lost his cage mate, Ocarina, at 4 years old. Since then I've been doing my best to work with his social needs, but I know at the end of the day, a bird is going to be better than a human (unless otherwise of course). I know that not every bird will get along, so I want to figure out a plan before I go ahead with adopting another bird. He's got a great temperament, and dealt with Ocarina being super clingy, so I want to believe he's easy to get along with haha. Here are my questions:

1. I want to try and get another GCC a few months or less before I make this cage, most likely when the rest of the room is built, painted and nothing toxic or harmful is lingering around. How can I go about adopting a GCC in general and acclimating it to it's new life with this in mind?
2. Should I adopt a GCC around his age or get a younger one? In terms of the likelihood of them to get along more specifically.
3. Whether they get along or not, should I make the custom cage into two or will it be big enough for them to share?
4. If they don't get along, can I do anything to help them like or be ok around each other?

Any other advice would be helpful, thank you!

I don't think I can give any good advice here, but I still wanted to say that I love their names! I'm so sorry for your loss, and I wish you good luck with getting a new greenie and building their cage :)

Thank you :) I hope I can make the cage as cool and functional as it is in my head haha

Can’t wait to see pictures of your cage once it’s made sounds amazing

I would go for bird you want a baby might be accepted more easily and is more likely to accept your bird easier
But adult gcc would just as happily accept each other
Just slow introduction cages next to each other so they can see each other get use to each other
I had one in cage one out on perch by others door and did tricks with them both taking it in turns starting with oldest bird first getting treats treats for positive body language
I found going stuff as a flock helped bath foraging etc

Sounds good enough, I'd love to rescue another bird, so I'll keep that in mind. I want a different colour GCC to Majora and Ocarina, so it might be a bit more difficult, but I'll try!
I'll also try to remember to post the cage when it's done. I hope I'm able to make it look the way I'm imagining it, I'm sure it'll be difficult but it'll be worth it.

There’s plenty out there to rescue and it’s lovely thing to do

Another thing you might want to do is bring your bird you have and see if there is one they can automatically become friends with.

I used untreated pine for the frame and stainless steel mesh for the sides. I made sure to avoid toxic woods and anything galvanized, since zinc can be dangerous for birds.

I used MDF panels for the base of my DIY cage too, and sealed them well to avoid moisture issues. If you're after a smooth finish that blends with your space, check out https://mdfskirtingworld.co.uk/skirting-boards/ — their stuff worked great for lining the bottom edges. Made cleaning easier and helped prevent debris from getting stuck in corners.
