I "rescued" this cutie from Pet Supermarket. They had him(?) marked down from $399 to $99. The manager said he had been there for about 8 months and he couldn't be handled.
I asked her how much lower could she go, she check with the DM and said $79.99. So I took him home tonight.

He got away from me while I was transferring him to his new cage. I got him to climb up on a towel and put him on top to snap a few pics. I took a chance and put my hand around him to get him back into the cage. He didn't even try to bite :D

What a little cutie. I'm sure he will come around with time. Unfortunately at most pet stores, only the big birds get handled regularly and those poor smaller ones are always unruly.

Thanks eveyone :thanks:

*K*J*B*, you are correct. He probably started out wanting to be handled but with time became afraid to come out of his cage. They employees probably just gave up on trying to get him out.
It seems that once he is out of the cage he will be fine. So that is what I have to work on.

Well, Timmy is settling in. He has been exploring his cage, preening, eating, vocalizing and I even caught him playing with a toy :laughing12:
However, Cosmo is jelous. He bite me hard twice, what a brat.:tongue2:

Oh, I love those apple green canary-winged parakeets!

Brotogeris parakeets are amazing little companions. I love my little golden-winged 'keet :)

The broto list on Yahoo is a great source of information: Brotogeris : A friendly forum for the discussion of all aspects of breeding or owning Brotogeris.(Grey Cheeks, Canary Wings, White Wings, et

And Shady Pines has some links to a couple of broto articles: Brotogeris Breeder - Canary-wing and Orange-chin Brotogeris Parakeets for Sale

Looking forward to reading more Timmy stories -- he is precious :)

Eliza, thanks for the links.

OK, so the vicious killer Canary Wing is a real sweetheart.
He just has hand fear issues.

I got him some new toys and while trying to redecorate his cage, he got out. I went over and herded him with my hands then picked him up. He didn't try to bite so I cuddled him against me and scratched his head. He got all puffy and started to turn his head to I could get a different spot. Since I was still trying to set up the cage, I put him under my shirt. He just hung out and didn't mind me petting him.
