Hello everyone,
I saved a baby speckled mouse bird 3 days ago, poor thing was ice cold on the road with red ants busy trying to get at it. He’s still a nestling and I suspect only just over a week old. It’s my first mousebird rescue and I have a concern.
The baby birds head seems to twitch a lot, it’s wings twitch simultaneously while making the softest little noise. The noises he makes are all very soft and you can barely hear them. All other rescue baby birds I’ve reared have been extremely noisy so this is odd to see.
I’m hoping there is someone here who has experience with mousebirds and if this is normal for the species?
It also isn’t too keen on being fed by the syringe but he takes it eventually.
Pooping often with stimulation and sleeping a lot.
TIA
